| Why Joshua? |
Why do we call it Camp Joshua?“The Lord gave this command to Joshua Son of Nun: Be strong and Courageous, for your will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them on oath, and I myself will be with you.” -Deuteronomy 31 Our camp bears the name of Joshua because, just as he transformed character into action, we want the high school students who attend this camp to be formed in their pro-life convictions and able to live them out to others in word and deed so as to save lives and bring down the walls of the culture of death. Character:Joshua, young understudy of Moses and a hero of the Old Testament, is known for his character. As the quote from Deuteronomy above states, Joshua’s character was one of bold strength, wisdom, and courage. Camp Joshua instills in young women and men strength in character, wisdom, and courage to defend and proclaim the message of life. Action:Joshua’s character had real results. He converted his character and values into action for the greater good. This action was evident in leading his people to the Promised Land and eventually bringing down the walls of Jericho, all at a young age. Just as Joshua brought down the walls of Jericho, the young men and women from Camp Joshua North Dakota will lead their generation to building a culture of life and bringing down the walls of the culture of death. be joshua.Note: Camp Joshua is not a “bible camp.” Joshua is used as a model of character and action. |
